About.

Mulberry Grove Baptist Church was organized by elders Rane Chastiain and James Saunders on June 8, 1786, and is the second oldest surviving church in Buckingham County.  Elder Chastain served as the first pastor of the church until 1822.
Mulberry Grove has been an active member of the James River Association since 1836.

In 1896, Mulberry Grove joined Sharon, Mt. Tabor, and Goshen Baptist churches to form a church field.  These churches worded together for 55 years.  In 1944, the church appointed a building committee to draw up plans for a new building to be built in the same location.  Work started on the new building in 1953.  Upon completion, a dedication service was held on June 10, 1956.  In 1951, Mulberry Grove joined Maysville Baptist to form a two church field.  These two churches worked together in a cooperative way for 40 years.

On August 10, 1986, a Bicentennial was celebrated on Homecoming day.  The “History of Mulberry Grove,” a booklet prepared by the Bicentennial Committee, was presented to the church.  It was dedicated to the Reverend James W. Dunn for his loyal service to the church.

In June 1992, Mulberry Grove called its first full time pastor, Rev. Robert E Ballard, D. Min.

Groundbreaking for the new fellowship hall was held in 1994, and a dedication for this addition was observed on October 6, 1996.  The Baptist General Association of Virginia recognized Mulberry Grove in November, 1998, for being a Pioneer church in Virginia having been a member of BGAV since its founding.  On November 30, 2000, land and a parsonage were acquired by the church, another first in the history of Mulberry Grove.  The debt on this property was paid off on October 23, 2003.
As Mulberry Grove Baptist Church begins a new and exciting chapter in its history, thanks is given to God for leading Rev. Michael Khol to serve as pastor beginning August 1, 2012.  While ministering together, may the church strive to grow in the grace and love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
